Abstract

In the field of thyroid cancer diagnosis, radioiodine scintigraphy with serum thyroglobulin has played an important role in the follow up of differentiated thyroid cancer patients. It is difficult to localize anatomic location using planar scintigraphy, but with the advent of SPECT/CT, differentiation of uptakes has become easier through precise localization. FDG PET is helpful for finding lesion in the patient with increased serum thyroglobulin level but negative radioiodine scan. The degree of FDG uptake is related to prognosis of patient. Radioiodine scintigraphy as well as SPECT/CT and FDG PET scan will help treatment planning for thyroid cancer patients.
